Customers receive 15% off with food donation and coupon during weekend.

Hurricane Sandy left a trail of destruction across the Northeast that left many long-term Shore residents in a state of shock.

The awe-inspiring images of boardwalks twisted from their foundations, well-known fishing piers torn apart and homes flooded by storm surge inspired many to look for ways to give back. The team at Sports Authority were so moved by the images that they reached out to local non-profit organization, Move For Hunger, to set up a weekend food drive to provide relief to those still impacted from the devastation wrought by the storm.

From Dec. 7th through Dec. 9th, five Sports Authority locations will be offering a 15% off coupon for anyone that donates non-perishable food items to the collection boxes at each store. The coupons are available for download at MoveForHunger.org/sportsauthority and include details on the food drive.

Brick Township- 1 Brick Plaza

East Brunswick- 300 NJ Rt. 18

The local partners of Move For Hunger, Lowy’s Moving Service of Neptune NJ. Crown Relocations of Keasbey, NJ and Budd Van Lines of Somerset, NJ, will be assisting Sports Authority deliver all donations directly to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties and the Community Food Bank of New Jersey where the food will be distributed to families impacted from the storm.

While all donations are welcome, the most needed items are canned fish, vegetables, chicken and stews, rice, pasta and peanut butter and jelly.
