Nearly 10 months since Superstorm Sandy dumped millions of gallons of river water into the century-old terminal, New Jersey Transit says it's re-opening the restrooms off the station's main waiting room.

NJ Transit executive director James Weinstein told the agency's monthly board meeting Wednesday that the restrooms will open to the public on Monday.

Temporary restrooms have been set up at the station since after Sandy hit in late October. The waiting room reopened in January but wooden benches are still covered in plastic awaiting renovation.

Weinstein says the repair has taken so long because toxin-laden water seeped into walls and fixtures and destroyed much of the terminal's infrastructure.
