As lunchtime rolled around in Ocean County, smoke began billowing up through the woods in the Beachwood/Berkeley area on Pinewald Road. Smoke continued to billow in the vicinity well into the evening. We have full coverage below:


In an unprecedented day of fires in New Jersey, blazes broke out in Toms River, Berkeley Township (near Double Trouble State Park), Manchester, Lacey Township and Franklin Township in Gloucester County. This was all in addition to the massive Beachwood blaze. Since around noon today, 45 fire engines, 59 police officers, an airplane, 2 helicopters, and three fire bulldozers have all assisted in battling the Beachwood fire.

Black billowing smoke can be seen from the 92.7 WOBM studios in Toms River, this smoke appears to be to the west of the original fire. Stay tuned for more details.

"All Intermediate South Students will be between 60 and 90 minutes later than usual. Students who are bussed will be returned to their normal bus stops. Walkers will be returned to Intermediate South. All students are safe."

"At the request of the Ocean County Sheriff's Department...all students from Intermediate South are being evacuated to the Pine Belt Arena"
